The Piping Plover
Their Habitat
Piping plovers live in open, flat, sandy beaches with small amount of grass or other crops. The usually nest in places like small creeks or other wetlands like that.
Their Diet
Piping plovers don't have to hunt for there food it's usually right in front of them. Some of the things they eat are worms, fly larvae, beetles, insects, mollusks, and other small invertebrates. When they spot there prey, they run fast and chase after it, then they snatch it up and eat it.
Interesting Fact!
When Piping Plovers hunt for food in the sand, one technique they use to scare up the food to the surface of the sand is, sticking one foot in the sand, and vibrating themselves until they scare their food.
